Counting split coins
Confirmed mainnet evidence · cumulative since the fork
History checked through the observed tip
9,138 of 9,138 blocks checked (100.0%). Coverage: 973,728–982,865; observed tip: 982,865. New blocks are checked every five minutes.
957 original outputs identified. Canonical block membership was checked at the observation time shown above.
Where the coin number comes from
The dashboard reads confirmed ECX blocks from BlockFab. A protected transaction uses locktime 499999998 and at least one input sequence below 4294967295. Protected transfers can move coins that were already split, so their count is separate from the coin amount.
Directly split ECX is a minimum. For each protected transaction, the index looks up its inputs. It adds the value of original outputs confirmed before the fork, once per output. The amount includes fees paid from those inputs. Summing transaction outputs would count change and later transfers again.
This minimum excludes coins moved through replayed transactions before splitting, other methods of separation, newly mined coins, and the protocol’s 232 repurposing transactions and their outputs. It does not measure people, liquid supply, or all split coins. A complete count across all methods would require a defined accounting method and both ECX and Bitcoin transaction histories.
